Reforgene presents at BIO-PHARM 2021 on the development and challenges of innovative gene editing medicines

On November 4-5, 2021, the Fifth China Biomedical Innovation Cooperation Conference (BIO-PHARM2021) was grandly held in Guangzhou. The conference focused on current hotspots in the biomedical industry, covering sub-fields such as antibody drugs, gene and cell drugs, and small molecule innovative drugs, building a good academic exchange platform for peers in the biomedical industry. The conference also held the Third Gene and Cell Innovative Therapy Congress in parallel.

Dr. Liang Junbin of Reforgene was invited to attend and delivered a conference speech titled "The Development and Challenges of Innovative Gene Editing Therapies". As an innovative treatment approach, gene therapy brings new treatment options and hope to patients with some incurable diseases. In recent years, innovative gene editing technologies have achieved milestone progress in the treatment of genetic diseases and have gradually expanded to the treatment of some complex diseases and cancer-related indications. In his report, Dr. Liang Junbin started from Reforgene's independently developed, internationally advanced beta-thalassemia gene editing medicine, introducing and discussing the development practices in drug development strategy analysis, solutions to major technical problems, quality methodology development and quality parameter research in the CMC stage during the research and development of this innovative therapy, and shared his understanding of the development and challenges of gene editing medicines at an overall level. The report aroused great interest among the attendees; after the meeting, Dr. Liang Junbin had further in-depth exchanges with the audience, exchanging views on innovation trends in the field.

The China Biomedical Innovation Cooperation Conference has been held for five consecutive editions. The Fifth China Biomedical Innovation Cooperation Conference in 2021 was held in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, organized by Wanyihui and co-organized by the Pharmaceutical Engineering Committee of the Guangdong Pharmaceutical Association and other organizations.
