Reforgene named a 2022 Guangzhou Future Unicorn enterprise

On November 28, the 2022 Guangzhou "Unicorn" innovative enterprise list was announced, and Reforgene was successfully selected as a "Future Unicorn Innovative Enterprise". This is another honor for Reforgene following its selection as a "Guangdong Province Innovative SME" this year. The "Unicorn" innovative enterprise list is guided by the Guangzhou Municipal Science and Technology Bureau and hosted by the Guangzhou Science and Technology Innovation Enterprises Association, aiming to identify innovative enterprises with strong innovation, fast growth and great development potential, cultivate future leading innovative enterprises, and give play to their innovation-leading and demonstration roles.

In recent years, cell and gene therapy has developed rapidly and has become one of the most promising directions in the biomedical field. Reforgene is dedicated to the development of emerging gene editing medicines. With its continuously deepening underlying technology innovation capability and excellent talent team, its first R&D pipeline project achieved milestone progress this year: the IND application for its independently developed beta-thalassemia gene editing medicine RM001 (HBG gene-modified autologous CD34+ hematopoietic stem cell injection) received implied clearance from the NMPA in November this year and will soon enter Phase I clinical trials. The product is a curative medicine for transfusion-dependent beta-thalassemia, and its outstanding early clinical research data were successively presented at the 2022 European Hematology Association (EHA) Congress and the 64th American Society of Hematology (ASH) Annual Meeting in 2022. Reforgene is the only enterprise in China to have presented thalassemia clinical research results at two major international (European/American) hematology conferences.

Reforgene's successful selection into the "Future Unicorn Innovative Enterprise" list shows that its technical capability, innovative achievements, growth and development potential in the gene therapy field have received high recognition and affirmation from the competent authorities and industry experts. Reforgene will take this as an opportunity to focus on innovation and develop into a leading enterprise in gene editing medicines.
